Fixing Corrupted EEPROM on Raspberry Pi 5

If you do not see anything displayed on the screen (ie.not even a Bios showing) , it might just be a corrupted EEPROM.  This is not not super abnormal on PI 5’s during the first boot from a where it attempts and update to the board EEPROM from the SD card especially if you may have used a different SD card or changed the software on the SD card. However it is simple to resolve if you might take a MicroSD card and prepare it as below to reset and update the EEPROM:

Take a microSD card to a PC/Mac, and run the “Raspberry Pi Imager” program (https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/).

Inside the Raspberry Pi Imager program, for the Operating System  scroll down to “Misc utility images” -> “Bootloader (Pi 5 family)”

Then, insert this imaged SD card and turn on your Raspberry Pi 5; Within a few seconds the display will turn Green which means the EEPROM has been reset and updated.
